A KEY route out of Dorchester will be partially closed for approximately 10 days from today due to ‘urgent’ tree work.

The work will be carried out on a 200-metre stretch of the B3147 Weymouth Avenue during the daytime avoiding busy times in the morning and evening.

The road will be closed southbound between the Magpies roundabout (turning for Tesco/Dorchester FC) to A35 Stadium roundabout but will remain open northbound.

The partial road closure will be in place on weekdays from 9am to 3pm from Monday, January 25 until Friday, February 5.

Access to Tesco and other essential stores, will not be affected.

An official diversion states motorists must follow a 4.6-mile route on the B3147 up to The Grove and the A37 then onto the A35.

Dorset Council warns that any person who breaches the road closure could be convicted or face a fine not exceeding £1,000.

The diversion route will be signposted on the road and on Travel Dorset.
