EIGHT more people have died in Dorset hospitals with coronavirus, latest figures show.

Data released by NHS England shows five more deaths were confirmed at the University Hospitals Dorset Trust, two more people died at the Dorset County Hospital and one more died under the care of the Dorset Healthcare Trust.

Four of the deaths at UHD came on January 10 while one came on January 9. Dorset County recorded a death on January 10 and January 9 and the death at the Dorset Healthcare Trust happened on January 9.

It means since the start of the pandemic, 321 people have died with the virus at UHD, 38 people have at the Dorset County Hospital and 36 have at the Dorset Healthcare Trust.

Nationally, a further 747 people died in hospital with the virus, taking the total to 56,816.

Patients were aged between 24 and 101 years old and all but 41 had underlying health conditions.

The deaths date back to November 23 and 42 people died in the south west.
