More than 670 people have tested positive for Covid-19 across Dorset in the last day.

Latest figures on the government website, show 496 new infections were recorded across the Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole (BCP) Council area in the 24-hours up to 4pm today, Sunday.

This means, 14,494 people have tested positive for the coronavirus since the start of the pandemic.

In the last seven days, 3,099 new cases have been confirmed across the conurbation giving a rate per 100,000 people of 783.9.

The current average rate for England is 650.9.

In wider Dorset, there have been another 177 cases bringing the total since the start of the pandemic to 6,573.

Over the past week, a total of 1,344 have been recorded with a rate of 355.1.

On Saturday, 675 new cases were confirmed across BCP and Dorset.
