WHILST the majority of shops must close during the lockdown, a Bridport garden centre will remain open.

Groves Nurseries on West Bay Road will remain open throughout the third national lockdown.

The most recent government guidelines, following Monday's announcement, allow for garden centres to take open as they are classed as an essential shop.

A spokesman for Groves Nurseries said: "We are privileged to be able to be able to remain open during the January 2021 lockdown.

"Garden centres have been classed as an essential shop, and this is not a responsibility we have taken lightly. Our aim is to provide the safest possible shopping environment for our wonderful customers and fabulous team during this difficult time.

"January is a quiet time in the garden centre anyway so there will always be plenty of space for you to shop safely.

"If you are able to visit us, we will make sure our garden centre is a safe place to shop during lockdown."

Groves Nurseries asks that those who visit the shop, follow their guidelines closely. Customers must sanitise their hands before entering and wear a face covering at all times. They must also keep a safe distance from each other and staff and only handle goods they intend to buy. The store will only be accepting payment by debit or credit card as to avoid hand-to-hand cash transactions.

The store will be open from 8am until 5pm Monday until Saturday 10am until 4pm Sunday.

Little Groves is closed for its annual winter break and is still due to reopen on February 1. The Ivy House kitchen and the Cabin are both closed until the lifting of lockdown restrictions.

Groves Nurseries will also be offering home delivery and click-and-collect services for those who do not feel comfortable visiting the store.
