Lyme Regis town map and discovery trail launched

The new Lyme Regis Town Map and accompanying discovery trail will replace the previous town brochure with a modern multimedia map and town guide. The map will be available both online and in paper form.

The new initiative features an illustrated map and video trail which will guide people around all areas of the town - highlighting historical and culture highlights which showcase the best of Lyme Regis. The map is accompanied by a mobile-friendly website which allows users to search for attractions, shops, restaurants and bars.

The video trail features a number of short, informative animated clips.

The project has been worked on by local design agency Coastline Creative and made use of the skills of a team of designers, illustrators, video producers and voiceover artists.

Eight people have worked on the production of the project, all of whom live and trade in Lyme Regis.

Project lead Wes Dowell, of Coastline Creative, said: “The council should feel very humbled in its decision to choose a local agency to deliver this project. In a very tough year for trading, they have supported eight local businesses and families in the creation of this new map and guide.

“It is a great way of showcasing the incredible pool of talent we have here in Lyme. A huge benefit of the project is the fact that it allows people to take a virtual tour of Lyme Regis, as many people across the UK and beyond won’t be able to visit the town due to the current Covid restrictions and travel bans.”

The new map has been delivered on the same annual budget as the previous town map, with considerable savings expected next year when it will just need some small updates.

Local businesses are encouraged to submit a free business listing on the map and can also make use of paid advertising online and on the map.

The map and trail are available online at www.discoverlymeregis.co.uk and physical forms of the map can be found at many shops, cafés and attractions throughout Lyme Regis.
