SOME OF Dorset’s established and up and coming singing stars have come together to produce a charity single in aid of a cancer centre in Middlesex.

Singer and West End performer Lynsey Simon, from Christchurch, headed up a choir group of 46 performers to create ‘Nothing Lasts Forever’, a song which is raising money for the Lynda Jackson Macmillan Centre.

Joining her on the video are singers from the West End, including talented musicians, and established pop and jazz recording artistes from as far afield as the USA calling themselves the Generation Choir.

The age of the choir members ranged from seven to 70 – including 17 talented students from Poole’s Steppin’ Out Academy where Lynsey is a vocal consultant.

Written by professional singer and songwriter Penny Lane and composer Glenn Keiles, who also produced the single, the uplifting song is dedicated to all those suffering from cancer.

Lynsey said “When songwriter Penny told me about the choir and how it would feature both established and up and coming singers, I knew I had to involve some of my very talented students including some from Steppin’ Out.

“Seeing the generations singing together, with ages ranging from seven to 70, was very emotional and brought home the whole ethos behind the making of the record.”

Due to the current lockdown measures, the videos were all recorded in the artists’ homes, then the video editing was put together by Tommy Bond.

The video can be viewed on YouTube and is available on all popular digital download and streaming platforms, with all profits being donated to the Lynda Jackson Macmillan Centre.
