A HOME store in Bridport will remain on the High Street 'for many years to come' - contrary to recent rumours, its owner has insisted.

In the midst of recent speculation over the future of Lilliput's Textiles and Home Store, the shop's owners have been quick to quash the rumours about a potential closure and are inviting residents to see for themselves over the Christmas period..

Lillie Foster, owner of Lilliput's, said: "We would like to let people know that we are not closing our Bridport shop and we intend to be part of the Bridport high street for many years to come.

"We are starting a new chapter here in Bridport, after serving the local community for over 35 years.

"We will be offering what may well be the best prices in the South West, so please come and support us as we move into this new chapter. ."

Lilliput's has been based in Bridport since 1985 - originally operating out of premises at St Michaels Trading Estate, before moving on to their current West Street location in 2005.

The shop reopened yesterday after the second national lockdown came to an end - with a wide range of new stock in place ready for the Christmas period.

Lilliput's has stocked up on hundreds of new lines tailored to the local community, including some very special Roald Dahl kitchen accessories, Angel Strawbridge home accessories and some natural sheepskin rugs, with plenty more still to come.

The store has undergone some changes throughout the lockdown period, with its luxurious bedding section downstairs to make it more easily accessible. The shop's windows are also full of products and bargains for the Christmas season.

On top of this, the store is able accessorise and supply bedding for commercial businesses at wholesale trade prices.

The store's owners have also been working on introducing lines from local suppliers and cutting back on plastics, by supplying many recycled, and reusable products, wherever possible.
