THE number of coronavirus cases in Dorset continues to fall according to the latest Government figures. 

Over the last 24 hours, 58 people tested positive for Covid-19 across the county.

The number of recorded coronavirus cases in Dorset increased by 17 over the last 24 hours, official figures show.

Public Health England figures show that 3,068 people had been confirmed as testing positive for Covid-19 by 9am on Tuesday (November 24) in Dorset, up from 3,051 at the same time on Monday.

The rate of infection in Dorset now stands at 811 cases per 100,000 people, far lower than the England average of 2,354.

Meanwhile in the Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council area, 41 cases were confirmed over the last 24 hours.

Public Health England figures show that 6,900 people had been confirmed as testing positive for Covid-19 by 9am on Tuesday, up from 6,859 at the same time on Monday.

The rate of infection in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole now stands at 1,745 cases per 100,000 people, far lower than the England average of 2,354.

Across the UK, the number of recorded cases increased by 11,299 over the period, to 1,538,794.

The latest cases in Dorset were among the 74,893 recorded across the South West, a figure which rose by 668 over the period.

Cumulative case counts include patients who are currently unwell, have recovered and those that have died.​
