A large tidal surge is forecast to cause flooding around West Bay Harbour and the River Brit today, the Environment Agency has warned.
A flood alert has been issued amid strong winds and high tides predicted to reach over two metres above average sea level.
The Environment Agency said high water is forecast at around 5:45pm today with a level of 2.59 metres above average sea level and a Force 7 south westerly wind. Flooding may occur two hours either side of this time, including on local roads and nearby footpaths.
More high waters are forecast tomorrow morning at around 6:45am with a predicted level of 2.61 metres above sea level.
An EA spokesman said: "We believe there is a possibility of flooding for West Bay Harbour and the tidal stretch of the River Brit.
"We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are checking defences. Please be careful along beaches, promenades and coastal footpaths and roads."
