Around 100 homes in Lyme Regis were left without power for up to eight hours after a car crashed into an electricity sub station.
Emergency services were called to the incident at around 8.49pm yesterday. The crash caused damage to an electricity sub station at the junction of Clappentail Lane and Sidmouth Road.
A spokesperson for the fire service said: "We were called to a sub station at around 9.04pm after reports that it had been struck by a car.
"Two crews attended, from Lyme Regis and Charmouth; nobody was trapped in the vehicle but the damage to the sub-station had led to a local power outage.
"Firefighters remained on scene until the electric board engineers arrived, as a safety precaution, and our stop was at 9.44pm."
Police got the call at around 8.49pm.
A spokesman said: "We were called to a report of a collision on Clappentail Lane in Lyme Regis. It was reported that a car was in collision with a small substation. Officers attended, along with the fire service. There was fluid on the road. There were no reports of any injuries. Officers left the scene at around 9.50pm."
Commenting at the time of the incident, a spokesman for Lyme Regis fire station said: "This has affected approx 100 homes - power company are at the scene and working hard to restore power to the affected properties."
Energy supplier Western Power Division confirmed that all affected households had their electricity back on by around 4.23am today.
