A MISSING person was rescued from a cliff top after a ‘hasty search’ in West Dorset.

Lyme Regis Coastguard were called at 4.11pm on Monday (November 2) to assist police officers in a search for a missing person in the Charmouth area.

The person was found on a cliff top and rescued by the coastguard. An ambulance crew carried out a medical assessment on the person.

A spokesman for Lyme Regis Coastguard said: “Lyme Regis Coastguard team was tasked alongside our colleagues from West Bay to assist Dorset police in the search for a missing person in the Charmouth area.

“After a hasty search, the missing person was located near the cliff top. The teams deployed their full rope rescue capability, and the casualty was rescued.

“He was passed over to the ambulance service and police for further assessment. For emergencies on the cliffs, beach, sea or tidal river - call 999 and ask for the coastguard.”
