In response to your article about a a “mass unmasked event” at a Weymouth supermarket, I couldn’t quite believe what I was reading.
Does Sophie Collette or any of her supporters really believe that wearing a face mask in the middle of a pandemic is not effective in the fight against Covid 19?
Granted the protection is not 100% but it prevents droplets containing the virus from travelling very far.
We are advised during the flu season to cough and sneeze into tissues to stop the very same thing from happening so what’s the difference?
Hundreds of thousands of people have been killed by this disease around the world and millions have been infected, it is very real indeed and to ignore scientific advice makes no sense as well as assisting it’s infection rate.
This was a very irresponsible action sending out the wrong message and is certainly born of an ignorance about how disease is spread.
Should she be unfortunate enough to have to undergo surgery, would she feel the same if the surgeon carrying out the operation refused to wear a mask or would she be happy for them to breathe all over her open wound?
It would be interesting to find out.
This is a nasty virus and we should do all we can to stop it, including the very minor inconvenience of wearing a mask.
Unbelievable.
