A SHOP in Bridport is set to star in another episode of a popular TV antiques programme.

South Street Antiques hosted a team from the BBC's Antiques Road Trip for the third time in six years after one of show's participants, auctioneer and dealer Raj Bisram, scoured the shop for hidden treasures.

Mother and son duo, Frances and Bill Moseley, have been running the store together for the past 10 years.

A crew of five people filmed for around three hours whilst Mr Bisram picked up a few items he hopes he will be able to make a profit on.

He purchased several retro games from the 1980s and 90s, a silver manicure set which dates back to 1906 and an Indian chapati bowl.

Mrs Moseley said: “It’s always great when they come to visit us. Raj is such a great guy and the whole crew is so friendly.

“They filmed for about three hours and Raj found some items to take to auction. They all told us how lovely our shop was which they always do, generally they were all full of compliments and very nice."

He added: "Because of the limited amount of people allowed in the store, Raj even went outside and sold some jugs to people who were admiring them in the window. It seemed to really make their day."

This will be the third time South Street Antiques has appeared on Antiques Road Trip with auctioneer Charlie Ross visiting the shop in 2017, two years after the Bridport shop first featured on the programme.

The programme, which airs on BBC One, follows antiques experts as they set off on a road trip around the UK searching for treasures and competing to make the most money at auction.

It is customary on the show for participants to arrive at the antique shops in a vintage car, and Mr Bisram arrived on the scene in a classic Mercedes 220SL.

Mrs Moseley added: “"We have pictures up on the wall of the other times people from the show visited in the shop – Raj and the crew said they want one of them up now.

"We’re very proud. We work so hard on the shop and it is nice to be rewarded for our work. It's good advertising and it’s such a thrill to see the shop on television."

In August the News resported how Bridport Antiques in West Street had a surprise visit from Catherine Southon and Izzie Balmer from the TV show.
