A horticultural society is holding a virtual photographic event in place of its traditional autumnal produce and flower show.

Following the success of its summer show, Uplyme and Lyme Regis Horticultural Society has decided to go ahead with another virtual event this autumn.

It will consist of galleries of photographs to be displayed on the society’s website.

Entries are open to all and the society is encouraging as many of its members as possible to contribute at least one photograph to the show.

There will be one gallery for each of eight broad classes, including; autumn flowers, autumn table decoration, home grown fruit – displayed or growing, home grown autumn vegetables – displayed or growing, hedgerow harvest, apple cake and carved pumpkins.

The entries will not be judged and the galleries are just for entertainment purposes. A maximum of two entries is allowed per class. Participants are encouraged to start compiling their entries now.

The society first experimented with a virtual format for their annual summer show in July, hailing the event as a success after attracting nearly 80 entries and having raised more than £650 for Cancer Research UK..

Entries need to be emailed as landscape images and must be submitted between Thursday, October 22 and Sunday, October 25 to tricia@thegardenersblacksmith.co.uk

The photo galleries will go live on the society website on Wednesday, October 28.
