A PROPOSAL for two three-bed homes on a site west of Chapel Lane at Maiden Newton is being recommended for approval.

Dorset Council’s area planning committee will make a decision on the application when it meets on Thursday.

The parish council is among the objectors to the application saying that the site is only suitable for one house and if two were allowed it would add to parking and access problems in the area.

Seven residents have written to the council to object. Some say the lane would not cope with additional traffic, turning would be difficult and that the new homes would lead to a loss of light and privacy in neighbouring gardens. Concerns have also been raised about construction traffic using the road with a warning of a history of flooding in the area.

The planning application, from of Northshore Companies Ltd asks for the demolition of outbuildings west of No5, followed by the construction of two detached houses on the plot, with spaces for four cars.
