I was not surprised that the public are fed up with councillors’ attitudes and the procedures they follow regarding planning matters.
Having worked in local government I was not surprised at the level of response because, as with every topic I have dealt with councillors who commanded respect from their officers because of their dedication to their constituents, unfortunately, they were few and far between.
The councillors are willing to pay to keep travellers off their land, at our expense. Yet, when the Bridport Leisure Centre had their car park used by unwanted guests they were told that it was a civil matter and not criminal, requiring someone to spend out for barriers.
The centre is trying to open as fast as it can to help with the wellbeing of our citizens, yet I have not heard the councillors standing up for the centre with regard to this matter.
