Dorset Police are warning residents to be aware of a scam doing the rounds.
There are reports residents have received automated phone calls stating it is from HMRC about non-payment, prosecution or similar and an instruction is given to press a number.
A spokesman for Dorset Police said: “Please do not follow instructions - this is a scam.
“If you have any concerns please phone 101.
“Please share this information with vulnerable relatives, neighbours and friends.”
If you have fallen victim to a scam, please report this to Action Fraud at actionfraud.police.uk or call 0300 123 2040.
