A WOMAN was caught trying to pass over a cannabis package during a visit to see her brother, serving a life sentence at a North-East prison for murder.
But on being detained, Linda Louise Woods is accused of assaulting two female prison officers in the incident at HMP Frankland, Durham, on June 25, last year.
Appearing at Durham Crown Court, Woods admitted conveying an illicit item into prison but denied two counts of assaulting an emergency worker.
Anthony Pettengell, prosecuting, said he would consult the Crown reviewing lawyer in the case over the potential for compromise on the assault charges.
Judge Ray Singh adjourned the hearing and bailed Woods, 23, of Bootle, in Merseyside, to return to court on a date to be fixed.
