Despite the coronavirus pandemic, the 80th anniversary of the Battle of Britain was commemorated last Sunday.
Members of the Bridport and Lyme Regis RAFA Registered Members Group, supported by the Royal Naval Association (RNA) were joined by Bridport town mayor, Cllr Ian Bark, when they came together at St Johns Church in West Bay.
Adhering to restrictions, the congregation, which was limited to 30, listened to a pre-recorded service. The service was run by RAFA chaplain the Rev Janis Moore, who gave an address in which she reflected on the courage and fortitude of ‘The Few’. Cllr Bark and Jonathan Tomlin of RAFA also gave addresses and Alan Kidson, of the RAFA members group, read the poem ‘Our War’.
He said: “It went really well. It was completely different but the whole service went well.”
