Lifeboat launched to kite surfer in difficulties in Weymouth Bay
WEYMOUTH lifeboat and coastguards were alerted to a kite surfer in difficulties.
The resort's inshore lifeboat was launched and Wyke Coastguard Rescue Team mobilised yesterday afternoon.
A spokesman for the Wyke team said: "The team tasked was at 14:28 to reports of a kite surfer in possible difficulties off Overcombe.
"Weymouth Lifeboat ILB launched but could not locate the casualty.
"After further information became available he was found on the beach having self rescued with the additional help of some swimmers.
"With no medical attention required we stood down."
