AN alcohol licence has been agreed for a café and ice cream parlour at West Bay.

The Cherries Ice Cream Parlour and Café at Pier Terrace asked for a licence to sell alcohol between 9am until 9pm daily.

Councillors deciding the application heard that although 9pm was being asked for the normal closure time of 6pm was generally to be applied, the extra hours requested to give some flexibility to deal with any additional demand. In application documents it was said that alcohol would only be served with meals.

The premises has 45 covers inside and 20 outside.

None of the statutory bodies, including the police, have raised any objection to the licence being granted.

The licence conditions will include CCTV use and staff applying the ‘Challenge 25’ policies which includes customers providing proof of their age, if this is in doubt.
