A COASTGUARD team was called out following a report of people cut off by the tide.

The Lyme Regis Coastguard team responded to the report of a group of people who had been cut off by the tide in the Charmouth area at around 6pm yesterday.

The first informant was unsure of the location, having waited 30 minutes before making the call.

The team searched the beach and cliffs between Lyme and Charmouth and east of Charmouth.

Following a thorough search, no person was found to be in any difficulty.

For emergencies on cliffs, beach, sea or tidal rivers, call 999 and ask for the coastguard.
