OVER two weeks remain of the consultation period for residents of Charmouth to have their say on the neighbourhood plan.

The consultation period gives those who live, work or run businesses in Charmouth the opportunity voice their opinions on the plan.

The draft currently includes 22 potential policies, including:

  • Heritage and history
  • Assets and amenities
  • Natural environment
  • Local economy
  • Housing
  • Getting around
  • Energy efficiency and coastal change.

The public consultation period will end on 11 September 11 at 5pm.

Neighbourhood planning regulations require the draft neighbourhood plan proposal to be the subject of a pre-submission consultation before it is submitted to Dorset Council for independent examination.

A copy of the draft plan is available to view online at https://www.charmouthparishcouncil.gov.uk/charmouth-nhp along with an online response form.

Alternatively a paper copy of the draft plan can be delivered to Charmouth residents without internet access. All paper copies of the Plan will be quarantined beforehand so will be safe to handle.

At the end of the six-week period, a consultation statement will be made available for viewing alongside the amended plan, including a summary of all comments received and how they were considered.

The Charmouth Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group are also holding phone-in sessions to discuss the draft plan.

Phone-in sessions will take place on Saturday September 5, between 10am and 12pm and Thursday September 10, between 7pm to 9pm.

To participate in the sessions, call 01297 561024.
