I FOUND the letters in a recent Bridport News very interesting, and in many cases relevant to today.

What I also found, and quite frankly dislike is the continual dissertations based on political party lines. Until we all accept that all parties have good ideas, as well as bad ones, and try to find common ground, the turmoil and general society disrespect will continue, regardless of movements like Black Lives Matter who have taken advantage of the underlying unrest in our society.

One letter said that there was clear evidence of institutionalised racism, which I don’t doubt, but there is an equal amount of evidence to show that whites are regularly disadvantaged, and that many of the communities screaming and shouting about discrimination totally ignore our employment laws, when it comes to their businesses. As with everything, this does not apply to everyone.

I worked in local government for years, and I have also had two successful businesses of my own. I have experienced positive discrimination, at the detriment to others.

Family members have been refused, by company owners, employment because they were white, yet I have seen nothing done about that. The reason given for this was, and I quote, ‘we don’t employ other than from our own’; what ever that means? Brexit was also mentioned.

If, when I was employed, I took as long as our politicians have done, after being instructed by my boss - in the politician's case, the electorate, by a truly democratic Referendum - I would have been fired. Why people are surprised that a proper Brexit might not be achieved, when our politicians only approve of democracy when it suites them, baffles me.

No one in today’s society has to be a sheep, and anyone who says life is fair, is lying. I hope that, when modern technology reaches all and basic education improves, all round, the imbedded blame culture will hopefully be part of our History.

Until our politicians have the courage to do what the majority of the society really wishes for; disruptive factions, be they legal or illegal, will thrive, as they are currently.

We are not in America, and our history is what it is, so please stop playing with wedges, unless bloodshed is your intention. Not my prophecy, it is what has happened throughout ‘history’, which appears to be a dirty word.

Please learn, before it is too late!!! Disagreeing with actions or motives, does not mean that a cause is automatically unimportant, or that those disagreeing can be placed into boxes titled - bigot, racist etc. etc..
