Ambulance and coastguard teams were called due to a man suffering from severe back pain on a boat headed for West Bay.
Lyme Regis Coastguard was called just after 5pm yesterday after a report of a man lying in pain on the floor of a moored RIB (rigid inflatable boat).
The boat was on its way from Lyme Regis to West Bay when it hit a wave in rough seas and the casualty had sustained a heavy landing aggravating a previous injury.
A coastguard spokesman said: "An ambulance was called whilst the coastguards and lifeboat crew determined the best method of recovering the casualty from the deck of the boat. Once the ambulance crew had provided pain relief and the casualty was carefully packaged up and removed from the vessel. We wish the casualty a speedy recovery."
