Campers on West Bexington beach beware - you are about to get a visit from the police.

That's the warning issued by Dorset Council today, amid concerns about campfires, barbecues and litter.

Campers are being reminded that overnight stays are only permitted in designated areas - and the council said it is aware that "a number" of people are camping on the beach at West Bexington today.

A council spokesman said: "The police will be visiting the site later today. You should only camp overnight in designated areas. This is because campfires, barbecues and litter threaten wildlife."
