Cineworld Weymouth is the second cinema in the area to reopen after the virus pandemic, following the reopening of the Dorchester Plaza.

It will be welcoming filmgoers through the doors again from today (July 31) with a selection of classic films and new releases.

Among the classics showing are Back to the Future - celebrating its 35th anniversary, Batman Begins, The Greatest Showman and The Empire Strikes Back - celebrating its 40th anniversary.

The new releases include psychological thriller Unhinged - starring Russell Crowe - which takes a road rage incident to an unpredictable and terrifying conclusion. Another new release is Proxima, starring Eva Green as a French astronaut training at the European Space Agency in Cologne and as the only woman on the programme.

Unhinged is also showing at Dorchester Plaza, while the county town cinema will be screening another new release, love story Summerland, starring Gemma Arterton as a writer.

Cinemas have now introduced Covid safety measures such as block seating in household 'bubbles', one way systems, staggered film start times and hand sanitising stations.
