Police are urging residents to be vigilant after a number of break-ins and thefts this week.

Bridport Police received a report that a secure, isolated barn in the area of Puncknowle and Swyre had its chain cut and the doors were found slightly open earlier this week.

A spokesman said: "It is unknown if they managed to get inside, or may have been disturbed, but please be vigilant, especially when in isolated areas"

Police received a report of a theft of a horse trailer from the Corscombe area at about 1am on Friday, July 17.

A well as this, men were reportedly seen acting suspiciously in Halstock at about 9am on the same day. They were taking pictures at the church.

Bridport Police were also called to the theft of a metal gate last weekend.

A spokesman said: "We have had a report of the theft of a metal field gate, in the area of Loscombe and Melplash. This occurred at sometime over the last weekend.

"There has also been mention of a couple suspicious vehicles that have been seen, including a new looking blue pick up.
