A SIDE extension at 1 Bredy Cottages, Annings Lane, Burton Bradstock has been refused planning permission by Dorset Council.

The application involved the demolition of a single storey extension and building a two storey replacement.

A planning report concluded that the proposal, with the materials being proposed, would be out of keeping: “The proposed extension would appear incongruous with the host dwelling and would be demonstrably harmful to its surroundings.

"The use of wooden vertical cladding and modern windows would fail to reflect the design and character of the pair of brick cottages with Edwardian window design creating an unacceptable and adverse visual impact on the character and openness of the countryside and this part of the Dorset AONB,” said an officer report.
