As they eagerly await the green light to reopen, the team at Bridport Leisure Centre have been busy preparing.

Many measures have already been put in place ready for users to return.

All activities must be pre-booked, social distancing measures have been put in place around the centre and staff will carry out a ‘exceptionally high cleaning schedule’.

There will be a cashless system and users must arrive at the centre activity ready as changing rooms will still be closed, as well as bringing their own exercise mats and a filled water bottle.

A Just Giving page has been set up to support the leisure centre which is owned by the charity, Bridport and West Dorset Sports Trust. Donations can be made at https://bit.ly/3irpWlq. This fundraiser has so far raised more than £8,000.

Will Thrower, centre manager, said: “The support of the Bridport community via our Just Giving page has been hugely appreciated and recognises the importance of our fantastic community hub.

“Our focus upon reopening will be on providing a safe exercising and sporting environment for all of our staff and members.

“Once again, thank you to the community and we look forward to welcoming you all back soon.”

The Government announced yesterday (Thursday) that indoor gyms, pools and sports facilities can open from July 25.
