Take a Knee protests are continuing to take place in Bridport.

Protestors are coming together on Wednesdays at Bucky Doo Square - or at their homes - at 6pm.

A spokesman for the event said: “At our Take a Knee protest on Wednesday, July 1, we knelt in solidarity with the international Black Lives Matter movement and to highlight inequality and racism in our own country, in our own county.

“We gave special thought to Bibaa Henry and Nicole Smallman, who were murdered lats month. Additional trauma was caused to their family, friends and colleagues by the initial inaction of the police and the subsequent selfies with the bodies of these women, taken by, and distributed by, police officers.

“The full statement made by Wilhelmina Smallman, the woman’s mother, to BBC Radio 4’s PM programme was read.”

The Bridport Take a Knee protest takes place every Wednesday in Bucky Doo at 6pm prompt.

Organisers ask those attending to wear a face covering and to adhere to current social distancing guidelines which will be indicated.
