VISITORS will be welcomed back to an art gallery this weekend.

In line with the reopening of the Symondsbury Estate, Lyme Bay Arts is pleased to announce that its exhibition venue, The Gallery, will also reopen on Saturday, July 4 from 10.30am to 4.30pm.

Throughout July, The Gallery will open only on weekends (Friday-Sunday), and in August, all being well, it hopes to extend that to five days a week from Thursday to Monday (closed Tues/Wed).

The first exhibition, Infourmation, has been waiting patiently for visitors since the lockdown started. This showcase of recent work by four very different West Dorset artists - Michael Chappell, Tracy Linwood, Kathy Hallsworth and Charles Hallsworth - provides examples of each artist's way of seeing and internalising the world around them. This is a chance to share (until Sunday, August 9) the struggles, determination and humour required to produce each body of work.

This will be followed by Natural Forms, a themed open exhibition of 2D and 3D artwork from August 13 to 31, and then Contemporary Crafts from September 3 to 21.

The Gallery's artistic director Phil Clayton suggests phoning or texting (07809 831760) before travelling long distances in order to confirm opening times.

He said: Yyou can call to make an appointment to view the exhibition outside of normal hours, although this will be dependent on the availability of staff. Please bear with us in these changing times."

Lyme Bay Arts looks forward to welcoming visitors back to see and experience original artwork created by the south west's artists. Smaller items (like cards) will be in limited supply and social distancing measures and hand sanitisers will be in place, all to ensure everyone's safety
