A barn went up in flames late last night.

Firefighters from across the county rushed to an area just outside Powerstock, west Dorset, at about 11.15pm and worked through the night tackling the blaze.

Beaminster firefighters were first at the scene and were soon joined by colleagues from Bridport, who arrived with two fire engines and a water carrier.

Crews from Charmouth, Dorchester and a second water carrier from Yeovil also attended.

Station managers were involved with a fire investigation and gave advice on hazardous materials.

Firefighters worked through the night, preventing the fire spreading to further barns and property.

They returned to their stations more than six hours later.
