Four adults and a child were stranded on a broken down boat which was stuck against a harbour wall.
The boat broke down yesterday evening at 6:36pm and drifted into the North wall of Lyme Regis harbour.
The owner had attempted to pull the boat along the wall to bring the boat into the harbour but had been unsuccessful.
The Lyme Regis Coastguard team were alerted to the struggling group and sent the lifeboat out to help them.
The lifeboat towed the boat into the harbour and moored it on a temporary pontoon.
The coastguard gave the group safety advice on wearing lifejackets, carrying a radio to call for help and not mixing alcohol and boating.
