Outline consent for a home opposite Lee Lane junction and south of East Road has been refused by Dorset Council.

The proposals to develop part of a garden led to objections from Bothenhampton and Walditch parish council and Bradpole parish council who said that a two storey property on the site would be out of keeping with others in the area and would lead to overlooking of homes in Howard Road to the rear of the site.

Both said they would not object to a bungalow or single storey property.

Highways England said that, in their view, the site is unacceptable, sharing an access to the main A35 also used by Pine Tree Cottage.

Both reasons have been listed by Dorset Council in the refusal decision.
