Dorset Council has approved a single storey two-bed timber framed annexe at Dolton House, West Road, Bridport.

The site is to the south of the A35 half-way between Bridport and Chideock with access via a gated entrance to a private track.

Symondsbury parish council raised no objection to the proposal and said that because the building was set back on the site would have no adverse effect on neighbouring properties, although within an  Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

The annexe, with a floor area of 50square metres, would have a kitchenette, with its own small balcony and patio area and is not considered by planning officers, to be capable of operating independently of the main house.

One of the conditions of the planning consent is that the development should only be used ancillary to Dolton House and should not be occupied as an independent home.
