Being in lockdown for more than two months hasn’t stopped Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorer Scouts gaining their badges.

Members of the 1st Charmouth Scouts have still been enjoying weekly fun activities from their homes.

As part of their bug hunt, one of the Beavers found a total of 125 mini-beasts. They have also been raft building, although they were only destined to float in buckets, basins and baths.

The Clubs have been tackling weekly challenges, sourced from the #TheGreatIndoors Scout website and ticking off their badge requirements. This has included cooking meals, washing up, tidying bedrooms, vacuum cleaning and wrestling with duvet covers.

As for the Scouts, some celebrated VE Day by making corned beef hash and carrot and cheese scones using wartime ration book recipes. Others have been displaying their artistic skills with paintings and sketches, creating a ‘how to start a fire with a striker’ video, camping out in dens they built in their garden and even coming up with a rap song about an avocado.

The Explorer Scouts all found their way around a Hogwarts themed virtual escape room game.

Although they won’t be able to meet face-to-face, new members aged between six and 17 are welcome to join in the weekly fun by contacting the group scout leader, Kevin Payne, on 07976 534517 or payne.kevin6@gmail.com
