Farmers and people living in rural communities are being urged to look after their mental health.

This week is Mental Health Awareness Week and Dorset Police's Rural Crime Team is focusing on mental health in rural communities as part of this.

A spokesperson for the team said: "Mental health is a big topic in today’s media and for good reason, one farmer a week on average takes their own life which is a really sad statistic.

"There is lots of help out there for people struggling with mental health, financial hardship or bereavement within our rural and farming communities."

They've recommended a number of online resources, such as You're Not Alone, The Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution, The Farming Community Network, Samaritans and Mind Your Head.
