A camera club has gone virtual to make sure lockdown doesn’t put a stop to what its members love doing and sharing work.

Bridport Camera Club has had to stop meeting on a bi-weekly basis at the town hall, but club activity has continued online until such time as they can all meet again.

Although the original 2019/2020 programme of events has been suspended, two previously scheduled competitions still took place, ‘low light’ and ‘movement’.

There were 90 entries for the low light competition, which was judged by photographer John Tilsey. There were some exceptional and inspiring images.

Photographer Maria Falconer reviewed the 84 entries for the movement competition and explained that her focus for judging was of course movement, but that she had also singled out work that showed original thinking by the photographers.

As a rescheduled event in the programme for April 15, the club members participated in a webinar by the acclaimed landscape photographer Sam Gregory, which had nearly 30 attendees.

Until life gets back to normal, the programme secretary will book speakers who are happy to do webinars and Zoom sessions with the advantage being that speakers are no longer limited by travelling difficulties and can be invited from further afield.
