A good Samaritan got stuck on steep ground while trying to rescue a dog.
Coastguard from Wyke Regis and Portland were paged shortly after 8pm last night to reports of a dog stuck on very steep ground outside their station at Bincleaves.
A passer-by had climbed to the dog's position but could not get himself and the dog to safety.
Coastguard teams sent a cliff rescue technician from above on a technical rope rescue system.
After gaining access through a fence and heavy vegetation, the technician was lowered over the edge to recover both the man and Yorkshire terrier back to the top unharmed.
