Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service is urging parents to talk to their children about the dangers of hoax calls after one took up 'valuable time'.
The fire service received a call from a child just after 8.50pm on Friday evening.
A spokesman for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Child caller rang the fire service and then hung up. Fire control rang the number back - yes we can see who is calling even if you try to hide your caller details - but the call went straight to answerphone.
"Valuable time spent dealing with this when we were busy receiving lots of other calls and dealing with genuine incidents.
"Parents/guardians, please have the chat with your children about the dangers of hoax calls and the consequences."
