A pyjama-clad television appearance by Martin Clunes delighted viewers.

The Doc Martin actor was described on social media as 'the king of lockdown telly' after his appearance in nightwear by video link from his Beaminster home for ITV breakfast show Good Morning Britain.

In the interview Clunes, sat on the sofa with his dogs, sang the praises of west Dorset businesses during the Covid-19 pandemic.

He said: "I'm aware that in Bridport our streets are shut but our butcher is still open and he's delivering to places. We had a lovely Sunday roast takeaway from the Half Moon in Melplash, our local restaurant Brassica is delivering food to people, you know everybody's doing their bit.

"I think in rural communities you do get a stronger sense of community anyway but it's really clicked into action like a Swiss watch,"

Clunes had appeared on the show to talk about his plans to host the world’s largest virtual tea party in aid of charity and also explained that he'd been recording some Miss Pepperpot stories to raise money for Dorset children's hospice Julia's House.
