An emergency road closure has been put in place as a damaged wall threatens to fall.

Part of Woodmead Road in Lyme Regis has been closed.

Councillor Daryl Turner posted on social media that the wall at the top of the road had been hit again and he had notified Dorset Police and Dorset Council highways.

A spokesman for Lyme Regis Town Council said: "Due to an incident with the boundary wall at Springfield House at the top of Woodmead Road, an emergency road closure has been put in place by Dorset Council. The road is closed at its junction with Silver Street for a distance of approximately 50 metres. The closure came into operation today and can remain in force for 21 days.

"There is already a planned closure in place for the same stretch of road from 20 April, so the emergency closure will cover the period between now and then."

The road was due to be closed from April 20 to repair the wall which was knocked down by a delivery vehicle and other works.

Cllr Turner said: "The original damage was made by a artic [lorry], this one was dangerous because the large section could fall onto the footway or road."
