SALISBURY Cathedral will be conducting services online throughout Holy Week and Easter.

This new method of prayer and reflection has been put into place to accommodate those who wish to worship within the government guidelines to stay at home. This reinvention will be different from the norm but will maintain the same spirit.

Canon Anna Macham, Canon Precentor, said: “The events of Holy Week and Easter are a turning point in our faith and a turning point in human history. In ordinary times we relive those events through our worship but, while it is still not possible to meet in person, we hope to share the experience virtually through streamed services offering the opportunity to embark on a life-changing journey together, even though we are apart."

“Alongside that we are also offering the opportunity to undertake a virtual Holy Week Pilgrimage of your own, a digital experience that can be used as part of personal prayer and reflection".

The Holy Week Schedule will include a 7.30pm service on Maundy Thursday, a 12 noon service on Good Friday and an Easter Sunday service taking place at 10.30am. In addition to this, Daily Reflection services are being live streamed from Monday to Friday, with a catch up available on the Cathedral website, and a pre-recorded service of word and music will be available every Sunday from 10.30am.

The website also features a Virtual Holy Week Pilgrimage. Created by Patrick Price, the son of a former bishop, the entire Cathedral has been scanned, enabling it to take virtual form to worshippers whilst the building is closed to the public. Those wishing to pray, listen or reflect can virtually enter the Cathedral and have access to a window of reading, prayer and music.
