A magician and his family are performing live magic shows over the internet to keep people entertained during the lockdown.

James Harrison and daughter Kyla, aged 11 and son Cooper, who is five, have more than a few tricks up their sleeves, and will teach viewers how to perform a few of their own during the twice-weekly performances on their YouTube channel, ‘Daddy Magic’.

The trio have been posting videos since the beginning of the year and will perform their first live show tonight at 7pm.

Mr Harrison said he started learning magic around seven or eight years ago - and it is all down to Kyla.

“I only knew one card trick at the time,” he admitted. “I performed it on my daughter Kyla when she started at Frome Valley School in Crossways. Her reception class was doing a talent show and so she asked me to teach it to her.

“She went and did the trick on her teacher in front of the class and ended up winning the talent show, and came back home super excited and asked me to teach her more.”

Mr Harrison added: “Well I didn’t know any more tricks so I went onto YouTube and started to learn some, and quickly became fascinated

with card tricks and magic in general.

“Seven years later I’ve got quite good - people have said ‘you’re better than some of the professional magicians out there’.

“My daughter came up with the idea of

starting a YouTube channel of our own at the beginning of the year.”

Since launching the Daddy Magic channel, James, Kyla and Cooper, who live at Crossways, have made friends within the online magic circle.

They have filmed a video for an American magician who is compiling a special show for children around the world who

will be celebrating their birthday during lockdown this year.

Mr Harrison - who is also a business development manager for a telecoms company - added: “We decided to do the lockdown shows to give people some entertainment, and keep all the local kids entertained - and hopefully inspire more people to learn magic.”

Future performances will be announced on their Facebook page, of the same name.
