There have now been five confirmed deaths at DCH so far.

Yesterday it was confirmed one person died while under the care of The Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch Hospitals on March 30.

Another person died at Poole Hospital the following day.

Last week, three people who tested positive for coronavirus died at hospitals in the Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole area.

Today, NHS England announced that a further 561 people, who tested positive for the virus, have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 2,698.

Patients were aged between 22 and 100 years old, and 44 of the 561 patients (aged between 25 and 100 years old) had no known underlying health condition.

It means the total number of UK deaths stands at 2,921.

As of 9am today, 163,194 people have been tested, of which 33,718 were confirmed positive, according to the Department of Health.

As of 5pm last night, of those hospitalised in the UK who tested positive for coronavirus, 2,921 have died. It was an increase of 569 from the day before.

The figures for test results and for deaths are compiled from different sources.

This is why the figures for deaths are reported from an earlier point in time than the figures for test results.

Some people who report symptoms are not being tested - they are not included in these figures and therefore the number of cases is likely to be much higher.
