TWO more people have died at hospitals in Dorset after testing positive for COVID-19, NHS England has said.

In a statement released today, the NHS said one person died while under the care of The Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch Hospitals on March 30.

Another person died at Poole Hospital the following day.

It comes as cases in the county reach 120. 

Eight new cases have been confirmed in the Dorset Council area, bringing the total to 62. 

Seven new cases have been reported in the Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole area, bringing the total to 58. 

A statement from NHS England said: “A further 486 people, who tested positive for the Coronavirus (Covid-19) have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 2,137.

“Patients were aged between 13 and 99 years old. 20 of the 486 patients (aged between 13 and 93 years old) had no known underlying health condition. “Their families have been informed.”

There have been four confirmed deaths at Dorset County Hospital in Dorchester so far.

Last week, three people who tested positive for coronavirus died at hospitals in the Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole area.

One person died on Wednesday, March 25, while under the care of The Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch Hospitals, while a further two people died at Poole General Hospital the following day.

Another person at Poole Hospital NHS Foundation Trust died on March 28.

No more details were released about those who have died.
