Weymouth and Portland residents may have caught a glimpse of this cruise ship, which has been anchored in Weymouth Bay.
The P&O cruise ship Britannia is currently anchored in Weymouth Bay with no passengers on board.
A spokesperson for the cruise company confirmed that this was normal routine for the ship to leave its dock and anchor at sea. All P&O cruise operations have been suspended for 30 days, with sailings set to resume on April 11.
Several cruise companies have been forced to make similar decisions due to the coronavirus outbreak, with Portland Port being affected by a number of cancellations.
Ian McQuade, General Manager (Commercial) of Portland Port, had previously said: “Unfortunately these are unprecedented times for the cruise industry and we are liaising closely with our cruise line customers. We anticipate cancellations for the forthcoming cruise season, though at this stage it is hard to predict when and where these will fall."
