The owner of Ocean Hill Farm at Corscombe has asked to legitimatise the use of a mobile home off Rye Water Lane.

Landowner Kay Russell has asked Dorset Council for a lawfulness development certificate on the grounds that the home has been in use for ten years or more, mainly by people working on the farm or nearby stables.

An application paper says that the two-bed unit, to the rear of farm buildings, replaced a previous single bed unit in 2011 on the same site. That is said to have been on the 30-acre farm since 1993. Google Earth pictures show a mobile home on the site dating back to at least 2001.

Water to the home is supplied from a borehole, a mini digester is used for foul sewage, electricity comes from a generator and there is also a phone line with broadband. Bottled gas is used for cooking, heating and hot water, supplemented by a log burner.

A planning agent says the mobile home has been occupied by people who work on the farm or the associated nearby Yew Tree Stables at Cross Lane, Corscombe.

β€œIt is concluded that there is more than enough compelling evidence submitted with this application to be able firmly to conclude that on the balance of probability a Certificate of Lawfulness should be granted for the use of the land to station a residential mobile home,” said agent Clive Miller in his submission to Dorset Council.
