ROYAL Mail has made changes to its parcel delivery services to protect public health amid the coronavirus outbreak.
Signing for and receiving items
To minimise contact during delivery, staff will not be handing over hand-held devices for customers to sign, but instead will log the name of the person accepting the item.
If an item won’t fit through your letterbox, staff will place it at your door and knock, before stepping back to a safe distance while you retrieve your parcel.
Special Delivery guaranteed by 1pm
Royal Mail will no longer guarantee deliveries by 1pm the next working day, but will still prioritise Special Delivery parcels and letters and will aim to deliver by 1pm or before the end of day. However the Special Delivery Guaranteed by 9am service remains unchanged.
Delivering to care homes
The Government has introduced measures to protect vulnerable groups, including those in residential care. This limits all but essential access to care homes for external contractors. Royal Mail is making arrangements to deliver to a central point, for example the reception area, rather than individual addresses within care homes.
